Casa Il Palombaro
Tuscan/Umbrian border, Niccone Valley, Italy

Elegant and distinctive, this classic stone farmhouse has been meticulously restored with old-world charm and new-world comfort. Inviting at every season of the year, the two-story house is beautifully situated. Surrounded by magnificent terraces and lush garden, it sits on a hill with gorgeous wide views of a peaceful and picturesque countryside - farmhouses, vineyards, olive groves, woodland edged with wildflowers, and rich pastures. Casa Il Palombaro features a large family-style eat-in-kitchen opening directly onto a grand terrace, for outdoor dining with an enchanting view. In the comfortable dining room, an antique table seats up to ten. Guests also gather in the living room around a rustic stone-hearth wood-burning fireplace. Beautiful stone and old brick arches, lovingly restored, distinguish many interior doorways and mark this house as an aesthetic gem.

Outside, guests can use the beehive wood oven - perfect for homemade bread and pizza. Hand-painted tiles add a rustic touch to gleaming modern fixtures in both the powder room downstairs and the two full baths upstairs. The second floor features three large bedrooms including a striking master bedroom and a suite with sleeping loft, full bathroom with whirlpool tub, and private terrace. With another bedroom furnished with two single beds and an upstairs sitting room (with direct access to the loggia) which has double sofa bed, the house sleeps a maximum of 8. Two rooms are also washed with the original colors - sky blue and light sunset. The house is a luminous and unique site for dramatic, restorative vacations.
